Website content often needs to be added, updated, and changed. Some people will do this themselves. Some will hire it done. If you have to continually edit static HTML pages this can be quite daunting and opens the possibility for error. Depending on the HTML editor you use it can be more or less difficlut.
For larger sites content management may involve more than one person and is often compartmentalized into various functions, each reponsible for one or more areas of the site. Smaller sites are usually managed by a single person, typically the website owner.
There are tools for content management. Some web design programs offer the ability to connect to the web host (usually by FTP) and publish the website and upload changes. Some software works live with the website allowing changes and updates to be made in real time. Some web hosts provide server-side tools that let you work with, and manage, the content of your website.
Whatever the method, and regardless of who may be engaged in the process, content management is an important part of the website process, ensuring that the website experience is the best it can be for all visitors.
