In his article How To Make Money From Home, Mark Ellison talks about the, "Attitude required for successful network marketing." He comments on the great range of results in the network marketing field; the disparity between the highly successful and those who fail to make an adequate return for the effort expended. He is referring to that kind of network marketing often called "muti-level" but the principles are actually the same for the individual online business person with a product or service to promote.

But why does this happen? And what can we do to over-come the process that seems designed to hold us back? For many involved in online commerce hard work simply isn't enough. No matter how much effort you put into making sales you just can't seem to sell enough product to make a suitable profit. The problem is, perhaps, the concentration on making each each individual sale. Those who are successful at selling know that it really isn't about the individual sale. It is about reaching out to, or building a network that includes, enough people that the reqired number of sales will be there regardless. In simple terms, it is a numbers game.

But simply building your network isn't all there is too it. Continually, and effectively, exposing your network to your business is important too. It's an important balance. Building a network is the two-pronged process of putting contacts into your hopper and exposing them to your product(s) or service(s). Both aspects of this process are important. It takes enough people in the network and enough exposures to your business. Keep track of these numbers. How many people are in your network, how many exposures, and how many sales did you make. Over time those numbers will be meaningful and you will know the size your network needs to be in order to result in the income you need or want.

If you understand and apply this concept growing your income becomes a simple matter of growing your network and consistently exposing it to the product(s) or service(s) you offer.
