Many people joined a network marketing business hoping that it can offer them a good second income. However, many do not foresee the obstacles and challenges that they are going to face as they embark on the new journey. What kind of problems do network marketers commonly experience? This article discusses some of these issues and how to tackle them.
1. Lack of marketing skills
Too many network marketers are struggling due to their lack of marketing skills. Market your company through your own website instead of relying on your business company’s. Work with a mentor to guide you through the early stage. Invest in trainings to learn about marketing. Most importantly of all, you need to constantly practising your marketing skills so that it can improve over time.
2. Running out of Leads
Unable to generate new leads is one of the worst nightmares of a network marketer. This happens when you have spoken to many people but none seem interested to commit and later you realise you have no one else to speak to. Instead of worrying and using weird tactics which turn people off, you should aim to create values and offer people something which can help them in return.
3. Over-focused on new recruits and neglecting existing customers
Time management is a key factor here. Maintain a list of your customers and do regular follow-up to address any of their concerns and to see if they have any new demand. Not doing anything will only harm the reputation of a network marketer.
4. Unrealistic expectations
Many people enter network marketing business without a realistic expectation on what they are going to face. When they are in the business, they become overwhelmed with the amount of time, skills and effort they need to commit before they see any result. Hence it is important to understand the business set the correct mindset before you step into it.
5. Lack of a business mentality
Network marketing is a business but in many times is not treated as such. Some people see it as a hobby and fail to develop a strong business plan (or any business plan at all) and marketing strategy. If this is your problem, change your perspective on network marketing and get serious about it. You do not need an MBA to succeed in network marketing, but some basic knowledge on business is always very useful.
6. Laziness
Network marketing is not easy money. You need to do some solid work before it bears fruits. Do not take the easy way out.
