This is my second post about website strategies. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) isn't rocket science and it doesn't take much to apply a dozen or two SEO factors to your website to make it place higher in the search enging return pages (SERPs) so people can find you. Some people suggest that 90% or more of the choices made by those searching in Google and other search engines are from the top 3 to 5 spots on page one of the returns. Few people go beyond the first page and almost no one beyond the second. If they don't find what they are looking for by that point they refine their search term.
Organic Traffic
Organic traffic, those people who find you through search is the largest single segment of traffic to a website. Numbers vary from study to study but the attached chart is relatively sound. If you are not considering your place in search returns then you may be losing the battle for traffic to your site. So what is the solution that will help you compete. It isn't keyword research. It isn't back links. The number one thing you can do is easily within your control. It is content. Content. Content.
Of course it is better to have great keywords in your content, but just about any related content is better than no content and, if you have enough content, even without specific optimization, you will be ahead of most of your competitor.
