I've just recently unsubscribed from two mailing lists. Why? Because they offered nothing of value. All they presented was the "pitch". Even the "free" things they flogged had strings attached... even though they used the term "No Strings Attached" when referring to them. Free should be free! Keep this in mind when writing your own newsletter.

Don't just sell. Everything shouldn't have to be a pitch. Provide real value and, when you can, give something of value away for free. Really free. And give it away without strings. If the person is already on your mailing list you don't need to put them through hoops to get their email address... again!

Something of value doesn't have to be something you ship, either. It can be a coupon code or other discount offer, an interesting or useful ebook, a training session, access to a free video, or any of countless other digital deliverable solutions. Work with others to exchange services or items for give-away and help promote each other.

Find sellers who offer products or services that complement your business and see if they have something you can give away as part of your promotion. Work together. Have something of value they can give to those on their list. The more you cross-connect in this manner the better everyone participating will do.
