Using This Site (Part 1)

The Online Selling Association website is built using the WordPress content management system (CMS) and those familiar with such sites will find a lot of the usual navigation and other features here. We do have some custom areas and some special features added as well.

The general layout (see below) of the new site is similar to our old site with only minor differences. Access to the site, however, is controlled by an entirely new, and very powerful process, which allows us to offer several different membership levels tailored to the needs of a more diverse group of online sellers.

Over all the site is divided into five visual sections:

1. The Header

1. Site name and tagline (and sometimes other links)
2. Horizontal navigation (menu)
3. Drop-down menus under main menu tabs

2. Left Sidebar News Flash link Promo Information

3. Right Sidebar Site content search Internal and external site links

4. Main Content

1. Document/page title
2. Information content

5. Page Footer

1. RSS and other feeds
2. Footer menu and copyright notice
3. Site designer

Some pages will have only one sidebar (either left or right) and some pages will have no sidebars. Pages with only one sidebar may have a specialized sidebar with functions specific to that page.
