Understanding What It Means to Be Content

What It Means To Be Content

Feeling content requires a lot of gratitude, acceptance, and appreciation for what you already have in your life. It is not easy. It does not just happen. You need to work at it. So, what does it all mean?

For example, someone who is content with their life is satisfied entirely by what they already have – when they consider their friends, family, home, career, and finances, they do not long for something different or feel regretful about how things turned out for them. Instead, the person feels extremely fortunate and grateful for what they have.

People who are content with their lives do not feel pressure to keep up with the Joneses or feel like they are missing out or falling behind when others experience good fortunes in their own lives. It is not about what you have or do not have; what you get or do not get.

What it means to be content is entirely different than that. While you may feel happy for others when they succeed or do well, you do not allow those feelings to turn into jealousy or a desire to change your own life just to keep up.

Instead, content folks continue to appreciate what they already have without letting themselves feel pressured to chase after another high, such as a new purchase or upgrade to their lives.

Instead, they find contentment in the successes they achieve for themselves. You can feel content in who you are, where you are in life, and what you have achieved, without giving up on motivation, drive, and realistic goals!
