Do you sometimes find that coaching programs, technical courses, and other trainings are a lot like the image below. The first few steps are basic and detailed enough to make them easy to follow. Then, somewhere along the way, things get overly complex all of a sudden. It's almost like you missed a lesson or two. You find yourself in over your head and lost. This is why learning to learn is so important.

Learning To Learn – Part 1.

Learning to Learn - An Important Process

This is not uncommon and you can be assured you are not alone if it is happening to you.
Sometimes it is the material being covered. It just naturally ramps up in complexity at some point. Sometimes it is the instructor. This usually happens if they haven't fully prepared or have reached the limit of their comfort zone with the content.

But sometimes it is the student. The one taking the program, course, or training. You! It can be caused when you get involved in a program, course, or training that is too advanced for you. You may need to begin at a more junior level. Don't feel bad or embarrassed. You can't know what you don't know until you learn it.

It can also happen if you don't pay attention and do any required, or recommended, homework or research. Instructors and teachers cannot force feed you and you won't learn by osmosis. In most instances, learning doesn't just happen. It requires commitment, attention, and action.

And there are better ways to learn, all part of learning to learn. Active things you can do that will help you absorb, understand, and remember the things you are learning in a deeper way. I will share some of these ideas in future posts.
